How Solar Advantage™ Works

Automatic rate switching, every billing period. No apps to check and no buttons to push. Just a plan that quietly pays you the right rate based on what your solar actually did that month.

How it works, step by step

Five simple things happen behind the scenes every billing period. Here’s the whole flow.

  1. Step 01

    Your meter tracks everything

Your bi-directional meter records the electricity that you import from the grid and the electricity your solar system exports each month, for that billing period.

  2. Step 02

    We receive your meter data

Your distributor provides us with your cumulative import and export meter readings. Once the billing period ends and we have received these meter reads, we have everything needed to accurately calculate your bill.

  3. Step 03

We compare your imports and exports

At the end of the billing period, we compare your total imported electricity with your total exported electricity. Whether you're a net importer or net exporter determines which rate applies for that billing period.

  4. Step 04

    The appropriate rate is applied

If you exported more electricity than you imported, you're a net exporter and the High Rate applies to both your imports and exports. If you imported more than you exported, you're a net importer and the Low Rate applies to both. Your bill is calculated using only the net difference between your imports and exports.

  5. Step 05

    Continuous Optimization. Zero Effort.

Once you're enrolled, there's nothing else you need to do. Every billing period, your Solar Advantage™ Plan automatically adapts to your solar production and electricity usage, ensuring your billing is continuously optimized based on your actual meter data, so you can simply enjoy the benefits of your solar investment.

Always applying the best rate, automatically

Whether the sun is shining or we’re deep into winter, you always get the best rate possible. In summer we maximize your export credit. In winter we minimize your costs.
